Reflexology is a very ancient therapy. The credit for initiating it in its present form must be given to Dr. Fitzgerald, an ear, nose and throat specialist. He discovered that pressure applied to specific partsof the hands or feet induced anaesthesia in parts of the body. Further research enabled him to link points on the feet and hands with internal organs of the body. This led him to believe that the feet and hands presented a mirror image of the physical body. when applying specific pressure techniques to these points, or reflexes as they are known, Fitzgerald found he was able to help alleviate pain and physical discomfort.
